BIRTHDAY LOVE.

So today is the big day.. My 21st birthday. I have just spent a wonderful 3 days, with my 4 best friends in the London Waldorf Hotel. It was amazing, to reconnect with all my friends, to experience something different and grown up, and for everything to just go right for once. We went to dinner, went to cocktail bars, went to clubs, went swimming, went in the sauna, had champagne in the hotel, went clubbing and around Soho until late, went to Camden market and so much more. It flew by so unbelievably quickly, and found it difficult to squeeze everything in. We have all agreed that we need to see so much more of London, and its sad that I haven't seeing as I live an hours train ride away. Also, due to the fact we didn't spend too much money over my birthday, we have decided that London is going to become a regular thing for us. we need a "touring London" weekend, a "crazy party" weekend, a "dinner and dancing" weekend a "sight seeing weekend" and so on.
I have never really been one to have a massive group of girl friends, but this weekend meant a lot to me. It made me realise that i have 4 scatty, ridiculously funny, wild best friends, who i can completely be myself around, and who make me laugh more than anything and make me feel so loved and happy. We have always said we aren't normal girls, and believe me when i say that. I feel very lucky to have them, and hope i know them forever more.

I Haven't posted in god knows how long, so I thought I would do a quick mini post and tell you who my current 'I want to look like that' model is. I have just discovered Shanay Hall, Australian model, blonde hair, green eyes, typical face beauty with a late 60s/early 70s feel to her. She is currently making her way into the model scene, recently being published in Vogue and is only 19 years of age. These are simply a few images I have found, and shall be using as inspiration to make myself look like this. She reminds me of a rock and roll barbie.

I discovered these photo's whilst flicking through Saturday's Fabulous magazine, which comes free with a newspaper. I have a sudden urge for more glamour in my life, more sophistication and I am craving a life full of glitzy, new york cocktail parties. I feel my childish days of slumming around in boots and leggings with a band t-shirt and messy hair are coming to an end. I want posh, exciting, eventful and 'together' parties, not trashy, off my face on god knows what and falling over with ripped tights parties (even though deep down i know I'll never give them up) I don't want a drastic lifestyle change, I quite enjoy the no responsibilities and messy life I lead, but as a now 20 year old woman, I am feeling the need to balance my pre-adult nature by mixing both the trashy and messy weekends, with the elegant and sophistication of something different. Going for meals, going to fancy bars, having an excuse to dress up, finally being able to wear some of my clothes that are hidden in my wardrobe and above all.. heels. I never wear them, 5"10, in heels, in my location is a no no, in a fancy down down cocktail bar, well that's something I can only dream about.

I love the composition in the photos, and the effect with the lights, it gives it a fierce, sex and the city, glam, down town party vibe, with elegance and sophistication being held at all times.

WINTER WANTS

I am seriously lacking in inspiration these days, feeling bogged down by the weather, the fact i have nothing to do and no money to actually be able to do anything. I have so many things i want, so many things i want to achieve and so much time i can do them, i just lack willpower. I feel a bit stuck.. but I'm seriously going to pull myself out of it.
On the plus side, i sent off my application for university the other week! That's one thing i can relax and forget about for a while!
I WILL be posting more, I just need a huge kick up the backside right now and a plan to get my life in order.

Below are a few of my winter wants as of right now.. Now that's its cold and gloomy outside, I'm craving rich dark velvets, burgundy and fur.

Tried this amazing coat on in a Lewes vintage shop a year ago.. it was full length, with a real fur collar and oh boy do i regret not buying it. I'm sure the coat is long gone.. never to be seen again. ALWAYS GO WITH YOUR GUT INSTINCT. Even if it is out of your price range.

I have just stumbled across the Vogue Russia, October 2011 editorial. My god is it sexy. The theme reminds me of a rock and roll Cruella De Vil, with the bold black and white's, fierce textures, block coloring and the ever so now dalmatian themed prints. The images are so unbelievably eye catching and I love they way they have a quirky 40's glamour appeal about them. Even with such strong and contrasting colours, The model Alla Kostromichova has such bold and stunning features that it only compliments the look, and draws the eye straight in to her. The simplicity of the shots, done by photographer Jason Kibbler, is what gives this photo shoot its edgy and powerful look.

THE PIERCES

Last night i went to Brighton to see The Pierces. We had a day out, got a lovely nandos lunch, then made our way in the blistering wind to go to Concorde 2. It was quite a small venue but it had that gig vibe, with bars, coloured lights, banners and good music playing from the second you walked in. It was so packed and sweaty in there but most defiantly worth it.
The Pierces, if you don't know them, are two female American folk/rock singers. They are one of the only bands these days which are unique and so obviously influenced by past music, especially psychedelic, 60s music. They are a modern day version of a hippie pop, rock and roll band, and i have fallen in love with them. The audience just stops and stares at them, their voices, looks and movements are all memorizing.. let alone their lyrical poems and amazing sound. Being sister's, their voices and harmonies are so in tune with one another. Seeing them live, in my opinion, is better than their recordings. I'm so glad that there are people out there that aren't the same as everyone, and that step out of the modern day box of computerized sounds and samey lyrics and voices. They have depth to them, and if you haven't heard or seen them, i truleyyyy recommend it!!

Here are only a few photos of the nights me and Lucia spent at my friends house in Southampton. All we did was eat, drink shop and party. It was a pretty good weekend and there will be many more occassions where we stay with her. I love that i have an escape, that a 2 hour car journey can open up a whole new life and you can be anyone you want to be... I was a tiger.
I would have shown all the photos, but frankly they are hideously drunk, all over the place or just plain awful to show. Therefore they are for my eyes only!

I have really been neglecting my blog recently, so i have decided to get back into the swing of it. I want to make it more personal, and more my kind of style, i never really talk about myself, about what i am like, what my interests are, what my fashion style is like. It doesnt represent anything or anyone, which i why i am going to put effort it and try and make it what i initially set out to do.

I am starting with a simple outfit post. Living in a town surrounded by woods and lakes and greenery, i am quite limited to my scenery, and although it doesnt quite go with the outfit, its always nice to have a fun running through the forest and tripping over and ripping my tights... which i did.

Anita, most famous for her Rolling Stones encounters. Who once dated Brian Jones, and spent over a decade on the arm of Keith Richards whom she has 2 children with. Anita is one of the rare women you find in this world, who are strong and men become powerless too. Keith Richards' body guard once described her as "like a life-force, a woman so powerful, so full of strength and determination that men came to lean on her" She was a wild chic, who loved the Stones for their music not their fame. She became a part of their music, she was more than just a groupie, partner or band aid, she wriggled her way in to the core of it all. She lead an extraordinary life, she knows the ins and the outs of people i can only dream about. The things i would give to have lived a day in hers shoes is ridiculous. I hope all these woman, Anita, Marianne faithful, Pamela Courson etc realise how amazing,unusual and lucky they are. To be a part or even an influence behind the greatest rock musicians that have lived is nothing less than miraculous.

ABUSE MY LOVE.

Since being inspired by the old grunge rock and roll look I decided to do an outfit post. I had spent the day lazing around wanting to do something so I got ready and decided to walk to the back of my house where there's a nice little park at 5pm to try and get the last of the sunlight. Just as i got there my camera took two pictures before running out of battery and then my phone did the same. So this meant the majority of the photos had to be taken on my friends blackberry. Seeing as I walked past lots of people and got dodgy looks for looking how I did, I wasn't going to leave without something. Sorry the pictures aren't great quality, it just goes to show how much preparation and organisation can benefit something! I will be sure to use a quality camera on my next one! xx

Trying to put this woman into words is extremely hard, she was an icon.. she was a 60's socialite, she was the muse of Andy warhol, she was inspiring, troubled, intelligant, artistic, unique and simply magnificent.
Born on the 20th April 1943 and died on November 16th 1971, she was a heiress, a model, an actress and named "the girl of the year" in 1965. Something about her is so daunting, so sad yet so interesting. You feel for her, but at the same time you want to be her, you want to know her. Her style revolutionised the 60's fashion scene, her unique and quirky thrown together looks are so simple and carefree, but her natural and individual styling is what made her, whatever it was she had it.

Recently my life has taken a turn for the better, and I have been going out socialising, partying until the next day, reconnecting with old friends, making new friends and having a bloody good time! I am finally official about my decision to apply for university this year, and I'm so excited to have got here, the prospect of still have an amazing 3 years ahead of me is really giving me a boost.
I tend to get quite bored, and upset doing nothing, I work 1 day a week and the rest of the time I'm just lazy, so its been nice having a busy schedule and finally feeling like I'm making progress! I love all the close friends I have now, I have always struggled to bond with girls, because I'm so not girly and the way I am tends to get on with guys much better. I've always been a drifter, who never has solid friends and always changes groups. But recently I've become very close to work friends who have always said the same thing. So instead of me just basically having the odd friend, i now have a nice little group of 5 girls, who i can honestly say our my best friends, I have 2 very close guy mates and then about 20 odd other people who float in and out and I see regularly as well. overall, happy happy place.

Fui a España

Hola que acabo de regresar a España. Or in other words, hello! I have just returned from Spain.

I went with my parents (bit sad i know for a 20 year old girl) but it was a free holiday, and I haven't been away with them in over 2 years so I thought why not! It was a relaxed, lying round a pool sunbathing holiday but most mornings we would take long walks in the sun to find markets, or check out local areas.. we came across a huge light house at the end of the harbor, a Castillo fort in the town of Castillo which we walked around, we went on a dolphin boat ride, which goes right out in the middle of the sea, and dolphins swim along side the boats- this was my favorite part of the week, and we also took a day trip to Gibraltar where we got lots of tax free goodies! We stayed at La Marina De La Duquesa, In the Costa del Sol. It's several blocks of apartments surrounding about 5 massive pools, which is one gate away from the sea front and a one minute walk away from the marina. The marina is amazing, with nightly markets and hundreds of restaurants and bars. Our family has been there several times, and my Dad is considering buying one of the apartments. Everything over there is just to idyllic, with palm trees everywhere you look, pools and the sea all around, million pound cars and boats in the harbor.. its so attractive, so peaceful and its beginning to feel like a place I know well enough to call a second home. I have been to Spain about 15 times, its always a family favorite and buying a house/apartment is becoming a real discussional point. I love the Spanish way of life, the calmness, the enjoyment, the laughter, the partying, the siesta's, the little markets, the weather and the simplicity of it all.

Saying that, my trip was rather stressful, with two parents who don't get on, in an apartment with broken air conditioning and jet lag, mixed with the heat.. it was pretty stressful. Luckily after a few days of bust up's and tantrums and when the air con was fixed, we all got drunk, did karaoke and slept in the sun.. over all, a nice holiday.

She became a swinging 60s model in the United Kingdom and United States, she was the muse of David Bailey for a brief time. Her bone structure, and her face is my favourite thing... i think she is just absolutely stunning, a natural beauty with delicate features.

The 'Swinging London' scene was aptly reflected in his Box of Pin-Ups (1964): a box of poster-prints of 1960s celebrities and socialites including Terence Stamp, The Beatles, Mick Jagger, Jean Shrimpton, PJ Proby, Cecil Beaton, Rudolf Nureyev, Andy Warhol, notorious East End gangsters the Kray twins and many more. My life is somewhat boring again. I need a job so badly, and I need to work out what I am doing with my life! Little shopping trips, and going out for lunch, and the occasional exciting thing just isn't good enough anymore. I crave excitement. I crave enthusiasm. I crave a busy, hectic life where I am full to the brim with activities. I miss hop farm, I miss the good few nights Ive had in the last few months. However, I go to Spain in about 8 days, so I have something to look forward too! Sunbathing and relaxing around our villa pool, trips to the towns markets, lunch is little Spanish cafes, dolphin boat rides, walking along the marina which is full of restaurants, beach bars, and cocktail shacks, tourist shops, night clubs and so much more. It is genuinely a beautiful place, and our family has already planned to buy a house there one day! I'll be sure to take millions of photos!
Today i went shopping, browsing around the town and had lunch with a friend of mine. One of those lazy days where there's no need to rush and everything is somewhat chilled.

FOREVER 27.

The 27 club, a group of influential rock and blues musicians who all died at the age of 27. No one knows whether it is pure coincidence, or a curse that oversees any musical talent when they hit the age of 27.. The usual members of the 27 club are Brian Jones, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison( who all died within the same 2 year span) and Kurt Cobain was later added on. There is controversy on nearly all of the deaths. More famous musicians have died at the age of 27 than any other age... More than three dozen rockers.The number seems far too high to just be a coincidence, but can there really be a curse? The number 27 has been said to "follow" and bring bad luck to people.. in the bible it is also the number of the Anti-Christ. It is very tempting to believe some karmic, spiritual, devilish curse at play here.. surrounding musicians, the troubled musicians.
Personally it all seems a little too far fetched to believe, but the sheer number of people is quite staggering. Perhaps it coincidentally happened to a few people, and then the rest wanted to join and be remembered? It has been said that Kurt Cobain used to talk about joining the 27 club, and he commit suicide at that age.
Whatever the reasons, curse, coincidence, suicide... They are all greatly missed, and maybe it is better to live fast and die young, and be remembered for having great talent, spirit and rebellious energy, rather than gradually fading out, i don't know.. I'm not really one to say.

Favourite look right now.

I'm obsessed with the rocker, gypsy, cowboy, pirate, 70's vibe at the moment. It's quite a varied look, and something which is more than just an outift. You can dress it up, dress it down, wear it in summer, wear it in winter, you can add more rocker and pirate elements, you can give it a 70's sheek look, you can mix it up completely.. here are a few examples of the basic looks. Don't forget you can mix and match any of it depending on how you feel, or what look you want to go for.. its all about contradiction.

Sheek, 70's cowboy look.
Which would typically involve floppy/cowboy hats, shirts, cowboy boots, high waisted flares/shorts floral's mixed with leather, patterned skirts or loose blouses, simplistic jewelery and hair down and wavy. Looks best on a nice day out.

The Rocker Pirate
Consisting mainly of draping materials, over-sized clothes, dark colours, bandannas tied around the head, lots of jewelery, big earrings, studs, charms, hats, chunky boots and hair messy with random plaits. Looks best on a night out.

Casual, messy rocker.
This is a basic every day, thrown together look. Baggy tops, little shorts, jeans, lots of necklaces and bracelets, leather jacket, cropped tees, sunglasses and messy hair. Looks best for everyday wear.

Gypsy cowboy.
This look is all about patterns, tassels, brown boots, florals, denim, layers and feathers. Lots of jewelery, mainly rings and random things tied in hair. It looks best in the summer.

HOP FARM FESTIVAL

The past couple of days i have been living in a field, listening to live music all day long, wandering around the campsites, meeting drunken strangers and having an amazing time at The Hop Farm Festival.. It's the kind of festival, which is local, chilled, no fuss, no sponsors, just good music and a good time. There were so many bands, My favorite's being Iggy Pop and the Stooges, (which was the only band who managed to cause riots, crowd surfing, people running to get on stage, and being squished up against the barrier as we were the front row.) The eagles, Patti smith, 10cc, Newton Faulkner, Prince, Morrisey, Bryan Ferry, Lou Reed and surprisingly Brandon Flowers. There were lots and lots of other bands who also played!
We managed to be at the second row on Friday, and the first row on Saturday, and even though we didn't have tickets for the Sunday, a nice security guard we got talking to gave us the slip and let us in for free to watch Prince.
Over all, a fantastic weekend and memories of almost dancing on stage with Iggy, singing along with The Eagles and Dancing to Prince will be with me forever... I'm excited for many more weekends at Hop Farm... and any other festival for that matter!

A TIME FOR EVERYTHING.

This week has been insanely busy, with my parents in new york, there was always something going on in my empty house. Whether it was girly sleep overs playing sardines and eating take away pizza, having non stop fags chats, or drunken dinner parties acting out come dine with me, there was always someone in my house, and always something happening. I was so tempted to have a house party, but after a few years back i swore i would never do it again, so nothing too drastic went on! We all decided to go to thorpe park on Wednesday, which was hilarious, 4 scatty girls on a road trip, and rides which scare you to death is always going to be though isn't it.. We managed every roller coaster, with hardly any queue, and had a fun day. Then thursday we had a girly trip in Brighton, shopping and hunting for nandos, then later on was the come dine with me fiasco, i went a bit OTT with the wine, and spent the rest of the evening passed out over a toilet.. not such a posh dinner party afterall!
So yes, this has been my past week.. had no time for blogging, or anything really.. I now have a camera, so prepare for blog over load in the next few weeks!

I watched a sad program today called 'The day John Lennon died" It had eye witness accounts, it had the doctors and the hospitals staff's recollection of the day, and Yoko Ono told her part of the what happened. I wonder if he still lived, what the world would be like now.. I could go into detail about how much of a genius, and amazing man he was.. but there are no words to some up such a thing, so i simply dedicate this to the beautiful man of brilliance. May he rest in peace. xoxox

I didn't have a blog when any of these things happened.. so i thought i'd tell you about how i once lived my life as a 'groupie'. Just over a year ago, me and my best friend went through a little rebellious and experimental phase.. our lives were literally, gigs, house parties, lock In's, strangers houses and the deadly walk of shame.. Me and Lucia would disappear off to Tunbridge wells for the night, only to return 3 days later looking a state and sleeping for the next week. We would go to The Pub where we slept, washed, and began our endeavors. Then we would stroll down a massive hill and walk across the town (already pissed off our faces) and show up at this little dingy club called the Forum. Live acts play there almost every night.. and we used to show up every week or so, flirt with every male in sight, get so unbelievably high and dance the night away. I mean, the first day i ever went there has been officially named "O.D Monday" and that pretty much speaks for itself. We went there so often, and made such an impression that we always got in for free, we always got free drinks and we got to know all the bands. We would go in the stage door and quote "we are with the band" it was so unreal. They would always mention us whilst playing, we would go back stage, and party all night with these strangers.. sitting in random rooms singing whilst they play, meeting them for drinks and ending up at lock In's playing sardines, or at house parties until 8 O'clock in the morning. It was crazy, it was non stop.. and it was one of the best times I've had in my life.
I was so new to all the 60's/70's music, so new to this kind of lifestyle.. and looking back it all feels like a dream. The things we did, that i won't go into detail about were just ridiculous. It was something which we could never plan.. we would go out with no intention of anything happening and end up going through the details all the next day about the events and how shocked we were. It got better and better every time we went out. The friends we made there would say to us "you three girls, as soon as you walked in, the attention was all on you" One of us was tall and blonde, the other was petite and ginger and the third was curvy and dark. We were all so different from each other and our presence was most defiantly noticed... we would show up late on god knows what.. looking to talk to band members, get in for free and then there is that moment. The moment of entering the small, enclosed, dark little club, as soon as we walked through the door heads would turn and we would smile.
It all sounds planned, and quite silly thinking about it.. but at the time we had no idea that this was going on, we never planned anything, we never saw any of it coming.. and i think that was part of the fun. Sadly it was over before we even realised what was happening. All efforts made since to recapture the same nights, and relive our old lives have failed.. For some reason it just isn't the same... However saying that.. we have some new events coming up shortly which could be better than anything that has happened so far.. but I'm not going to get my hopes up, it is nearly impossible to top what we had. Part of me is glad that it only lasted that long.. we had 3 months pure groupie rock and roll, 6 months psychedelia and the rest of the year getting back to normal. I don't think i would have coped with anymore.
I'm glad that its happened.. its changed my life completely.. i know things, and i hear things (music) that i never would have before. I'm much happier for it, and I'm glad i have so many memories i can look back on as an elderly and think, damn i had a good life.
But....its not over yet. this past year has been a break, I'm only 20! i have hundreds of gigs and men to get through yet ;) NEXT YEAR WILL BE BETTER THAN LAST.

Today i watched a program called Pink Floyd, Classic Albums. It's all about the creation of Dark Side of The Moon.. How they discovered the new sounds and how the album was a construction of experimenting, overlaying and venturing into a new age of music. It's expression, its experimental, its meaningful and its pure genius.
I've always liked Pink Floyd and my like for them grows all the time, the more I listen to them.. but I don't think I ever quite got it before. Something today, whether its the date or the fact my mind is more susceptible or maybe the fact I'm actually listening?.. I don't know.. whatever it is, I get it. it makes sense, its.. just genius.. I cant describe it any other way. Pink Floyd is slowly becoming my favourite band. Every time I hear them, it sounds different, I hear things I have never heard before.. and connect to different lyrics, or different sounds. It's like pealing back layers and finding more things you never knew before.
I find it extremely hard to discover music that does more than sit in my ears. This flies around my body, my brain and enters my soul.
I always connect to a different song every time i hear them.. today was this.

SEVENTIES ROMANCE

I know its not even summer yet... but I'm just so in love with Frida Giannini's autumn/winter 2011/12 collection for Gucci.
The palette was a rich, heady mix of peacock blue and rust, burgundy and petrol green. With bulging fur, fine leathers, knitted & chiffon dresses and woolen skirts. It has a sophisticated 70's look with a hint of 40's flung in. It has flares, wide brimmed hats, contrasting in vibrant colors of green and purples, chiffon dresses, with an elegant flow showing a more feminine side but also tailored culottes and jackets, with bright fur and a pussy bow neck to add a a softness.
It has everything, a complete mixture of snakeskin, patent leather, chiffon gowns, tailored woolen suits, bright colors, shaggy sheepskin, flowing materials.. I am just in love. Giannini does this look so well.. The colors don't overpower the look and everything compliments each other. Its bold, sophisticated, sexy, but with a twist of 70's romance.

FESTIVAL MANIA

We are coming up to the festival season, shops are full of 'festival clothing', advertisements for them are everywhere, tickets have started going on sale, the weather is brightening up and the good old banter of what festival are you going to this year? has begun.
I am 20 and i have never really been much involved in the festival lark, never had enough money and never really knew of anything other than Glastonbury or Reading, and not really liking that music I thought it was silly wasting hundreds of pounds just for the atmosphere.
But there are sooo many festivals going on, and this year I have decided to do it. I have already booked my ticket for Hop Farm. Not as main stream as the others, but still huge.. with hundreds of acts playing over the whole weekend.. Last year they had Bob Dylan play, which i'm gutted I missed out on, but i was as a local festival in Tunbridge Wells called Gazastock that weekend.
Gazastock was my first taste of what being at a festival is like. The environment and the atmosphere is amazing, i really cannot wait for this year to happen. Already picking out clothes, planning what tent to use and how we are getting there, is making me more and more excited for it to happen. I am going to cram as much stuff as i can in, no sleep.. just party, party, party. :D :D

Today involved walks around a cute little village, lunch by a river, vintage/antique shops, meeting cute waiters, sitting in parks and getting completely and totally lost and ending up a 2 hours drive away.
We went to a little town called Lewes, with cobbled floors, and castles.. little vintage shops full of things you want to inspect. Me and my friend Lucia, are pretty much making this a monthly ritual, of finding nice little vintage things and getting lunch. Even though i am SO ill, and have pretty much been dying the past few days.. I thought it would be good for me to get some fresh air and have a walk about.
I still don't have a camera ( I broke mine, and I'm broke..) So I tend to share my friends.. here a few pics from today!

When rearranging and organising my room, i came across my notebook, which i hadn't seen in months. I opened it only to discover that i written various things, and done a lot of scribbling and i really cannot remember doing it. It is all based on the "psychedelic night" and pretty much states what happened.
I'm not a nut job, and it hasn't really affected me in any way, other than opening my eyes and making me happier.. so please don't judge!
I thought i would post these, simply because i have no memory, and i find it interesting that this actually happened. I have edited the photos a bit.. they looked silly plain!

I'm really obsessed with the gypsy rocker look at the moment. Tassels, flowing skirts, draping dresses cluttered patterns.. everything dreamy and loose, as if free, not weighing you down and just a part of you. it accentuates your movements and persona, and its one of my favorite looks at the moment. Snake Valley is inspired by the 70s ‘Gypsy Rocker’ character embodied by Jimi Hendrix and Lenny Kravitz.
Here is one of The Jimi Hendrix Experience song called "Gypsy Eyes" on the album "Electric Lady" I don't think I've ever heard it before but I'm already in love.

Soft Focus Photography

Now that summer is around, i feel the need to change everything, i want to go blonder again, i want to buy a whole new summer wardrobe- to go along with my 40s/vintage idea, i want to buy a camera and take lots of photos. I did photography as an Alevel, and i adored it. I have a massive old wind on film camera, and used to develop the pictures myself.. For 3 years photography was a huge part of what i did, in every subject i would incorporate some kind of photography- even if it didn't need it. I have to admit, i got pretty good at it. Since leaving college, and feeling so uninspired, i lost interest, broke or got rid of my cameras and now i am really craving it again. I live in a countryside.. there not much else to do than take photos! And i think my blog is really lacking some good photography.. So this summer.. i will have a decent camera.. and ill spend my life taking photos and making art from them. I want this to be a creative and inspiring summer.

Whisky a Go-Go on Sunset Strip

The Whisky a Go-Go was a new sensation that hit the Sunset Boulevard on the Sunset Strip on January 11th 1964. An American nightclub, playing live bands and then records in the intervals. "Adults in coats and ties dancing to rock and roll" Johnny Rivers were amongst the first few people to play, and soon it was the 'it' place to be. On the First night a female DJ didn't show up, so they gave the job to the cigarette girl, Patty Brockhurst, who was wearing a fringed slit skirt, and dancing around to The Shirelles' "its my party" " I want to hold your hand" "hes a rebel"... the crowd went nuts, and thus was born the Go-Go Girl. The got two more female dancers to dance in cages above the stage, the streets were packed with young mods, rockers and beatniks wanting entry to this unmissable place. Bands such The Bryds, Alice Cooper, Buffalo Springfield, Love, The Doors, Frank Zappa, The Kinks, The Who, Cream, Slade, Led Zeppelin and SO many more.
The starting place for many of the bands, the best nights for most of the people.
There is so much more i could say about this place, and not do it justice, so i suggest you look into it yourselves.
